“It doesn’t have to be perfect to make an impact.”
I was talking with one of my fellow BodyMind coaches a little while back, and these are the words she said in our conversation.
I immediately felt their power and told her I was quoting her!
How many times do we hesitate, striving for “perfection?” I know I am guilty of this.
It’s not ready yet. Just needs a few more things. Tear it apart, start over…
But truly, perfection doesn’t get achieved, it only prolongs our sharing, robbing those it is meant to serve.
“I’d like to say something, but I’ll get it wrong.” “I’d like to offer my services, but I don’t know enough yet, I’m not good enough yet…”
How often do you wait for “yet” or “right?”
The truth is, you make an impact by being you, being real, showing up, doing the thing, saying the thing, offering the thing… ready, perfect, or not.
Because there is no “there” to get, there is only “here.”
There is no “then” to wait for, there is only “now.”
There is no “perfect” to be ready, there is only “imperfectly willing.”
So I invite you to ask yourself “What have I been pausing on waiting for perfection, where I only need to be willing to be wrong, and I could do so much more good- than waiting for yet?”
Like my wise friend Rachel Thompson said, “It doesn’t need to be perfect to make an impact.”
